This is yet another new blog for me. This is, in some ways, a plain vanilla site but, it's a nice one. I like it. I don't quite know why. Today's the day I ot my 360 degree evaluation and, as my nearest and dearest said - it's all about managing perceptions, baby!! Perception is reality at the end of the day.
I also remember I attended this training programme recently. 'Stronger Every Day'. Pretty superficial stuff. We were taught about our filters, which is pretty old hat as far as I am concerned. It was probably new for many of my Chinese colleagues but, really very concepts were introduced. I'm not even sure if the trainers fully understood the concept of filters, which change our perception of the world. And then, he mentioned that we should have the courage to change ourselves.
This is something that I disagreed with. If we have filters that prevent us feom seeing who we are then, how do we know which aspects of us that we have to change. Philosophically, how do we even identify our filters?
Anyway, the trainer was pretty frazzled when I mentioned this point to him and, accused me of throwing the group off-track. Maybe, I was throwing them off track. But then, what the hell?? If we are not taught how to think then, how the hell do we grow?
How indeed do we grow? Maybe, from a practical point of viw, it's good for us to be able to see how others see us and, to manage that perception. That is called management of reality. The reality of others...
